Well....it looks like Monday from now on will be our new official p-day..
So here's the weekly news from your favorite Pirate of the Caribbean:
It has been quite the week, as we spent a few days trying to work in a little village about 20 minutes from Fernão Velho that is pretty hidden in the jungle...
I had never even heard about this place until this week.. It is called Matadouro, It's a cool little place....you know, a few interested people, bunch of dogs and little kids running all over the place... and a gigantic pig!!!! Yea, I´ll have to send some pictures.
Not too sure how well things will go in this new little place. But up here in the Barrio Colina we have been having a lot more success, especially since it is a lot closer to the church.
It looks like this week we will baptize a mother and her 2 daughters. Her name is Anna, and her daughters are Gabi (18 yrs.) and Aninha (13yrs.). They are really loving the messages and visits to the church. The two daughters are a lot firmer than the mother, but I have faith that all will go well this weekend.
We are also teaching two other great families, Genildo and his wife Eliege; and Luciano and Célia... both have only one younger-aged child.
Genildo and his wife went to church on Sunday for the first time. They loved it, but it looks like he may start working on Sundays. They are reading the Book of Mormon and are very interested in baptism, but I don't think that we will be able to baptize them if he starts working on Sundays. Pray for them, I really feel like this family will soon enter into the church. I just hope that I will be here for it.
--Luciano, was so interested in our message! When we taught him about the restoration of the church and Joseph Smith, his mouth literally dropped open and he couldn´t stop´asking questions. I always love seeing that. He is a very cool guy, but works on the "SAMU" which is the ambulance here, so he is always on the run.... They are so excited to go to church on Sunday...
The work is going great. Elder Neuberger is pretty much the man!! We are making a lot of plans for our group to keep in touch after the mission, especially E. Neuberger, E. Whitehead, and I, you will love these guys!
In Maceio there was a huge "helping hands" project on Saturday, where we had a huge blood drive! I think it was actually my first time giving blood....holy junk!... that needle was way bigger than those ones that you used to practice on me steve!!!! kinda felt like they were shoving a pencil into my arm. But hey, all for a good cause right?
I almost forgot, last p-day we went to a national market that they had in Maceio.... it was really cool to see handmade items from all over the world.... India, Germany, China, Guatemala, Africa, etc... I was pretty amazed at the Peru section!
Well, hope all goes well for you guys. Have fun next week up in Bear Lake without me.....again......kkkkk.....but really hope you all have a blast

Running!!!!!!! July 21, 2010
Elder Messer went off to his new area in Benedito Bentes, and it looks like I will stay here in Colina.
My new companion is awesome, maybe you have heard of him.......ELDER NEUBERGER!!!
President put us together for the last few weeks.
I am excited to finish out strong with one of my favorite mission buddies!
I was super excited because Elder Neuberger and I both love the Brazilian culture, so we will take advantage of every last minute that we have here!!!
It is still pretty surreal that it is all coming to an end, but then again I don't feel like I will ever be too far away from this place.
I just want to make sure that I will be on an adventure every day for the rest of my life. It's not too important where or what.
So how about Cody getting married!!!!!! Wow, that was alot faster than I thought it would happen!
I can't tell you how strange I feel just thinking about not being a missionary anymore. Maybe I´ll just send one of the members here home in my place and I´ll just slip off the maps for a while and continue preaching the gospel like the 3 Nephites or something!
Well we have 2 good looking families that we may possibly baptize before we are sent home. Pray, pray, and pray more for us that we will have success in these last few weeks!!!
I love you all, and hope you are all happy and smiling! If not... you can think of me running through a small village yesterday night as I was trying to catch the train; being chased by dogs and dodging people, trees, little houses and fences.......Oh, by the way... we missed the train by 20 seconds!
I really hope your laughing by now, because I could not stop!!!! kkkk

Da-da-da--DA july 14, 2010
Well, today was quite the Indiana Jones adventure!
A 3 mile run at 5 in the morning to catch the train into town,
a 1 hour 1/2 car ride through sugar cane fields,
and a 20 or so mile walk through the Brazilian mountains with nothing but a bull-whip and a classy cowboy hat.
Lost in the rain, and running from stray dogs and snakes and a wonderful ending to the story. (alright so i made up the part about the bull-whip and hat)
But, today was absolutely great.
I made the last visit to Viçosa today. We did a hike and then said good-bye to some old friends.
It actually felt kind-of weird. I still felt like I would be seeing those people again soon, but it may be a good while.
I really love that place.
This past week has gone by well, we have found some great new families to work with; which was pretty exciting for us!
On Saturday we baptized the two brothers; Juracy (or Junior) and his brother named "Jhon Lennon". kkk I know right? wW got a good laugh out of it too as we filled out the baptismal form.
Now we will just have to find and baptize Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Star!
These two brothers are pretty powerful though. Over the last 3 weeks we have seen such an incredible change in them.
Things are continually getting better in the work. Unfortunately, some of our baptisms fell through, but we are working very well with the leadership in the ward.

"fill yur hands, you....." July 7, 2010
This week has just flown by!!!!!!
The work is going forward...and all is well!!!
We have 3 investigators with their baptisms marked, two are young men (Junior and Jhon)that, if all goes well, we will baptize this week. They are brothers that we found and have been teaching; they have also been going to seminary for two weeks already! Junior has a had to change a lot of things, and we are hoping that he will be fully ready by Saturday.
The other is Stheven (which you pronounce like "Estevão"). He is nineteen and a really smart guy. The bishop is sure that he will serve a mission one day!(as am I)
He is marked to be baptized next week, on the 17th. But we have had a little trouble in meeting him to teach. I guess that a lot of his friends say lots of bad stuff about the church.
But the elect will come when the Master calls.
Haha, my comp always points out funny things about the culture here that seem to be normal to me by now. He calls the bikes here “brasilian suburbans” as the people always manage to fit their whole family on one bike and still ride comfortably!..kk
I guess you can tell if they are rich if it has brakes.
On the 4th of July, my comp had printed out the song “Why I love her” as narrated by John Wayne, made me appreciate my homeland quite a bit.
My son(greenie)is quite the patriot, I have learned a lot about American history and politics on the time we have in between visits and such. He is a cool kid.
Today we went to the city park with Elder Neuberger and Elder Whitehead to see the alligators, monkeys, snakes, and such. There are some pretty thick patches of jungle here in Maceio!
Well, all goes well.
I really love Brasil, it has become part of me… or… I think that maybe I´ve got some Brasilian blood running through my veins..?!
